For six months, Ukrainian exports have fallen to over six billion dollars – Derzhstat

For the first half of 2022, exports of goods from Ukraine amounted to $22.7 billion, or 76% of the previous year’s figure.

At the same time, imports fell by 19.1% annually to $25.2 billion. The negative trade balance was $2.5 billion compared to $1.2 billion in the first half of 2021.

The export-import coverage ratio was 0.9 compared to 0.96 in the first half of last year. In total, Ukraine traded with 221 countries of the world.

The sharp decline in international trade after the start of a full-blown war mid-year was partially mitigated by the sharp rise in January and February data last year as the pandemic disrupted international trade.

During this period, the largest share of Ukrainian exports was taken by products of plant origin – 24.1% of total exports, precious metals (mainly – iron) – 17.6%, oils – 12.1% and mineral products – 12.3%.

As for imports, more than a quarter of all imports are fuels – 25.1%. Many machines and electrical appliances were also imported – 15.3%.

In June this year, compared to May, seasonally adjusted export volumes increased by 18.6% and imports by 27.6%. The seasonally adjusted foreign trade balance was negative in June and amounted to USD 1.4 billion. In May, the balance was also negative, at $889.9 million.
